2020 City of Champions Cup All-Stars Announced

The 2020 City of Champions Cup ended on Sunday as it capped off an excellent season of professional baseball in Joliet. In between games of Sunday’s doubleheader, an awards ceremony was held. The first-place Joliet Slammers was presented with the championship trophy as well as acknowledgment of the summer’s standout performers as 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Stars.

All four teams’ many players enjoyed productive seasons in Joliet, but these nine players were voted to earn the right to play 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star nods.

  • 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star Starting Pitcher: Joliet Slammers LHP Jake McSteen( 50 IP, 7-0 record, 2.70 ERA, 52 K, 46 H, 10 BB) The pitcher was dominant for the Slammers as he started eight matches and helped in winning 7.
  • 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star Relief Pitcher: NERDS Herd LHP Ian Krol (19.1 IP, 1 save, 0.47 ERA, 31 K, 8 H, 3 BB) NERDS Herd’s Krol was amazing all season. He allowed just one earned run in his 19 appearances to earn the All-Star selection.
  • 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star First Baseman: Joliet Slammers 1B/C/DH Brian Parreira (79 AB, .253 BA, .400 OB%, .456 SLG%, 4 HR, 15 R, 15 RBI, 18 BB) Parreita ranked fifth in total RBIs (15), eighth in total runs scored (15), and tied for third in home runs (4) of all City of Champions Cup batters.
  • 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star Second Baseman: Tully Monsters 2B/SS/3B Caleb Ricca (64 AB, .328 BA, .443 OBP%, .484 SLG%, 2 HR, 12 R, 10 RBI, 13 BB, 10 SB) Ricca was Tully Monsters leadoff man. He ranked second in the City of Champions Cup and first on the Tully Monsters with a .328 batting average.
  • 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star Shortstop: Tully Monsters SS/2B Tyler Depreta-Johnson (80 AB, .238 BA, .303 OBP%, .288 SLG%, 5 R, 8 RBI, 6 BB) Johnson recorded 19 hits, including four doubles, and struck out in just 15 percent of his at-bats
  • 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star Third Baseman: NERDS Herd 3B/1B Brylie Ware (83 AB, .301 BA, .366 OBP%, .325 SLG%, 11 R, 12 RBI, 4 BB)

  • 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star Outfielder: Joliet Slammers OF Andrew Shaps (86 AB, .302 BA, .364 OBP%, .419 SLG%, 2 HR, 20 R, 15 RBI, 9 BB, 8 SB)
  • 2020 City of Champions Cup All-Star Designated Hitter: Joliet Slammers DH/OF/1B Noah Vaughan (78 AB, .321 BA, .471 OBP%, .769 SLG%, 10 HR, 20 R, 22 RBI, 24 BB, 6 SB)
