76ers Add Anfernee Simons on Two-Year Deal

The Philadelphia 76ers continued reshaping their roster Thursday, agreeing to a two-year, $12.3 million contract with free agent guard Anfernee Simons, according to ESPN.

The reported agreement came one day after Philadelphia reportedly acquired former NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brown from the Boston Celtics. Simons, 27, played alongside Brown in Boston last season and is expected to have a player option in the second year of his new deal, according to the report.

As part of the reported Brown trade, the 76ers will send veteran forward Paul George to the Celtics, along with first-round picks in 2028 and 2031 and second-round selections in 2028 and 2030.

Simons joined Boston last July in the deal that sent Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers. He appeared in 49 games for the Celtics, averaging 14.2 points while shooting 39.5% from 3-point range.

He was traded again in February, moving to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for forward Nikola Vucevic. However, a left wrist injury limited Simons to six games with Chicago before ending his season.

Across 55 games, including five starts, Simons averaged 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

A first-round pick by Portland in the 2018 NBA Draft, selected No. 24 overall, Simons is expected to provide scoring depth for a Philadelphia bench that lacked consistent offensive production last season. He has averaged at least 17 points per game in four different seasons and owns a career 38.5% mark from 3-point range.

Over eight NBA seasons, Simons has averaged 14.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 444 games, including 218 starts.
