State Representative Andrew Chesney refused to take a pay raise of $1628 and gave it to the local organizations working in Northwest Illinois. The pay raise of $1628 was given to the lawmakers this year. Chesney said, “Lawmakers do not deserve a pay raise considering the fiscal condition of Illinois”.
Chesney said that he sponsored legislation against the pay raise but the legislation was not called for a vote. He called it the reason behind his refusal to the pay raise. Chesney donated $1628 to the local organizations serving in Northwest Illinois. Five organizations are currently receiving funds from Rep. Chesney including Voice of Stephenson County, The Junior Livestock Association of Stephenson County, Tyler’s Justice Center for Children, Pink Heels, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The Voices of Stephenson County is an organization working for offering aid and support to the victims of domestic violence, abuse, sexual assault. The Junior Livestock Association of Stephenson County is serving in the field of agricultural education for young people of Stephenson County. Tyler’s Justice Center for Children provides legal, medical, and collaborative support to the victims of child sexual abuse and physical abuse. The organization also provides aid in the collaborative response to the investigation.
The Pink Heels is an organization which provides support to the people who suffer from any type of cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is an organization which works in the field of research and treatment of the pediatric catastrophic diseases. Chesney donated the pay raise to the organizations working for the well-being of the needy residents of Illinois. He praised the efforts and services of non-profit organizations.
