Brad Gobright loses his life after falling from rock in Mexico

Brad Gobright, an American rock climber, lost his life after falling from a rock in Northern Mexico. The civil protection agency of Mexico said that the incident happened on Wednesday at El Potrero Chico. Gobright fell from the height of nearly 985 feet when he was climbing at Sendero Luminoso along with his climbing partner.

Gobright, 31-year-old, was a resident of Orange County, California. Aidan Jacobson, the climbing partner of Gobright, was wounded in the incident. The rescuers retrieved the body of Gobright and treated the injuries of Jacobson. The ankle and other parts of the body of Jacobson were wounded. A friend of Jacobson said that he told him that their rope was stuck and they fell 20 to 30 feet down to the ledge below.

Jacobson was crashed into a bush that saved him from further fall. Ryan Borys, the friend and climbing partner of Jacobson, said, “It pretty much saved his life.” He added that Gobright fell past Jacobson and over the ledge. Jacobson saw him falling over the ledge. The death of Gobright has been confirmed by the State Department.

The State Department paid its condolences to the family of Gobright. It said, “We offer our sincerest condolences to his family on their loss.” The Department is providing consular assistance to the family and it is also monitoring the investigation of the incident. Alex Honnold, a famous climber, paid tribute to Gobright on Instagram. Honnold was featured in a film named “Free Solo”.

Honnold wrote on Instagram, “He was such a warm, kind soul – one of a handful of partners that I always loved spending a day with.” Alice Hafer, a climbing partner of Gobright, said that she was shocked when she heard the news of Gobright’s death. She added, “He had a magic about him on the rock, unlike anyone I have ever met.” She also said that it was unbelievable news for her as he was with her a few weeks ago. The officials have confirmed the death of Gobright.
