Chicago concert week brings major acts to city

Chicago is set for a packed week of live music as major pop stars, indie acts, rock bands, blues performers, and experimental artists take over venues across the city from Sept. 28 through Oct. 4.

The week begins Monday with Sara Bareilles at the Chicago Theatre as part of her Good Grief Tour. The singer-songwriter and Broadway composer is known for hits such as “Love Song” and “Brave,” as well as her work on the musical “Waitress.”

Several other performances are scheduled for Monday, including Chelsea Wolfe at the Riviera Theatre, Kota the Friend at Garcia’s Chicago, Horse Lords at the Empty Bottle and Icelandic electronic group múm at Constellation.

City Winery will also host a live-band tribute to A Tribe Called Quest.

Tuesday features one of the week’s biggest arena shows: Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds at the United Center. Johnny Blue Skies is the performing identity of Grammy-winning country singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson.

Other Tuesday concerts include Everything Everything at Metro, MICO at the House of Blues, Mon Rovîa at the Salt Shed, Laurie Anderson with Sexmob at the Riviera Theatre, and Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals at Garcia’s.

The schedule shifts toward heavier music on Wednesday, when hardcore band Knocked Loose shares a bill with rapper Denzel Curry at the Salt Shed. Veteran Chicago blues musician Jimmy Burns will also perform at Buddy Guy’s Legends.

Friday brings K-pop to the United Center with LE SSERAFIM’s 2026 PUREFLOW tour. The same night, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will perform at the Salt Shed, offering its improvisational reinterpretation of the Grateful Dead catalog.

Saturday’s biggest arena event belongs to Doja Cat, whose Tour Ma Vie World Tour arrives at the United Center.

Fans looking for a heavier alternative can head to the Salt Shed, where Ministry, Acid Bath and Windhand are scheduled to perform.

The week closes Sunday with the Revivalists and Robert Randolph at the Salt Shed, while Constellation hosts the ~Nois Quartet as part of its Frequency Series.

The range of performances across the city highlights Chicago’s unusually broad live-music scene, with major arenas, independent clubs and specialty venues all hosting notable acts during the same week.
