Police, firefighters and paramedics from Palatine responded about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021 to a report that a young girl was rescued from the pool and that a lifeguard was doing CPR on the pool deck at Birchwood Recreation Center, 435 West Illinois Avenue in Palatine.
The girl was conscious before paramedics arrived, and Ambulance 84’s crew reported the patient was breathing when they arrived. The girl was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for observation.
Birchwood Recreation Center is a Palatine Park District facility with a 50-meter swimming pool and a separate wading pool and a separate diving pool.
