City of Champions Cup & MILB Players

The Slammers have started signing players for the City of Champions Cup. The players signed also include Minor League affiliated athletes. (7/1) Devin Hairston, a 6th round draft pick of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers from the University of Louisville (Louisville, KY). He will play at shortstop, second base, and center field this summer.

Hairston has plenty of baseball experience as he played for the Brewers’ A and AA level affiliated teams. This season, we will be seeing Justin Jones at shortstop, second base, and first base. He played at Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA). Jones played for the rookie and A level affiliated teams for the Los Angeles Angels.

Matt McGarry will occupy second baseman, shortstop, and center fielder this summer. New York Yankees drafted McGarry in the 34th round of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft from Belmont Abbey College (Belmont, NC). He played for the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees’ affiliated rookie teams, and the New York Yankees’ level A affiliated team.

The Boston Red Sox drafted Jordan Procyshen in the 14th round of the 2014 MLB June Amateur Draft from Northern Kentucky University (Highland Heights, KY). He will play in right field and behind the plate. He has experience playing for the level A and AA affiliated teams from the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted Bubby Rossman in the 22nd round pick of the 2014 MLB June Amateur Draft from California State University, Dominguez Hills (Carson, CA).

Rossman will play as a right fielder and relief pitcher this summer competing for the cup. Rossman played for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ rookie and A level affiliated teams. The St. Louis Cardinals drafted Zach Kirtley in the 5th round draft pick of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft from Saint Mary’s College of California (Moraga, CA). He will play at first and second base for the City of Champions Cup season.
