The foundation permit of $8 million has been issued by Chicago for the construction of the 74-story condo tower at 1000 S. Michigan in the South Loop. The marketing name of the condo tower is 1000M. The tower will be 74-stories tall and it will have 430 parking spaces. According to the building permit document, the ground floor will be used for commercial/retail purposes.
The tower is constructed by the James McHugh Construction Company. AMC Mechanical Services will perform the plumbing, mechanical, and electrical services. The electrical sub-trade is handled by the Gurtz Electric Company. The tower will constitute of 323 units, according to the Curbed Chicago. It also said that the units would be inexpensive for the purchasers.
The Curbed Chicago wrote, “1000M will test the upper limits of the area’s luxury housing market.” The upcoming 5500-sq. ft. unit on the 71st floor of the tower is listed for $8.1 million. The construction of the project has been started with the permit issued by Chicago. The Curbed Chicago wrote, “A number of the tower’s upcoming units exceed the neighborhood’s past sale record of $3.2 million set in 2016.”
