Cook County State’s Attorney Election: Incumbent Democrat Foxx beat Republican O’Brien

Kim Foxx, the incumbent Democratic candidate, has fended off a challenge from Republican Pat O’Brien to become State’s Attorney of Cook County for the second time. O’Brien conceded the race late Tuesday night. Foxx got 895,586 (53.7%) votes while O’Brien grabbed 662,640 (42.71%) votes.

O’Brien got more votes than Foxx in suburban Cook County. 398966 people voted for him in suburban Cook County while 334806 people voted for Foxx. Libertarian Brian Dennehy got 109638 votes in Cook County. 50014 people voted for him in suburban Cook County.

98% of the votes have been counted and reported overall and in suburbs. The City of Chicago voters did not attribute the rising number of shootings and murders to Foxx. The mishandling of Jussie Smollett’s case also did not affect the vote bank of Foxx. It will be the second term of Foxx as the State’s Attorney of Cook County.
