Elgin COVID Response Fund

The details of the recently established Elgin Covid Response Fund (ECRF) have been announced by the City of Elgin and both local and regional funders. Starting from June 1, eligible nonprofit organizations can apply online at www.cffrv.gives/elgin-apply. The application deadline is June 17. The applicants will be notified of grant decisions the week of July 8.

Funds will be dispersed through ECRF to the organizations that are supporting Elgin residents during these tough times. Nearly $150,000 is seeding into the fund, including a recent $50,000 contribution from the City of Elgin. You can go to www.cffrv.gives/elgin-covid to make donations to the Elgin COVID Response Fund online.

Mark Seigle explains, “These are extraordinary times that require extraordinary efforts. That is why the Seigle Family Foundation is proud to be a part of this steering committee that consists of several of the family and private foundations who have been committed to Elgin long before the pandemic and will be committed long after.”

He added, “We are asking our fellow Elginites to donate to this important fund. Any contribution will be a contribution that goes back into our community, into the hands of our neighbors in need.” There is an eligibility criteria for organizations seeking the funds. The eligible organizations should be located in the greater Elgin area. They should have a history of serving residents of the city of Elgin. The organizations and agencies that have not served Elgin are not eligible for ECRF.

ECRF is a $500-$7,500 grant. The grant is restricted to provide direct financial assistance to individuals and families facing urgent, financial need as a result of the pandemic. The ECRF grant can be applied for by the 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. The organizations can administer the funds to individuals and families in need.
