Eric Bieniemy’s Wife Hospitalized After Shooting

The wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was hospitalized in stable condition after a shooting at the couple’s Virginia home Sunday night, according to an ESPN report.

Sources identified the woman as 57-year-old Mia Bieniemy. She was being treated for “serious injuries” in Loudoun County, Virginia.

A spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said authorities responded to a call at 7:32 p.m. ET Sunday in Ashburn.

The Chiefs said the organization was aware of an incident involving the “family” of its 56-year-old assistant coach. The team did not provide additional information.

Eric Bieniemy was in St. Joseph, Missouri, with the Chiefs for training camp when the shooting occurred.

Bieniemy returned to head coach Andy Reid’s coaching staff in January. He previously served as Kansas City’s running backs coach from 2013 through 2017 and as offensive coordinator from 2018 through 2022.

During his earlier tenure with the organization, Bieniemy helped the Chiefs win Super Bowls LIV and LVII.

He spent the 2025 season as the Chicago Bears’ running backs coach. Bieniemy also previously served as offensive coordinator for UCLA in 2024 and the Washington Commanders in 2023.

Earlier in his coaching career, he worked as offensive coordinator at Colorado, his alma mater, from 2011 through 2012.
