Naperville Police is investigating the fatal traffic crash on City’s Eastside. On Monday, July 27, 2020 ar around 5:50 p.m., the Naperville Police and the Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Naperville-Wheaton Road for a vehicle crash. The accident involved a 2018 Black Nissan Sentra and a 2015 Blue Suzuki GSXR 600.
A 68-year old male out of Lisle was driving the Sentra and a 23-year old male out of Addison was driving the GSXR 600. According to the initial investigation, it is indicated the Nissan was traveling westbound on Ogden Avenue in the left turn lane. The Nissan proceeded to make the turn to go south on Naperville-Wheaton Road on the solid green light in front of the Suzuki.
The Suzuki was traveling eastbound on Ogden Avenue. The Suzuki driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Soon after arriving at the hospital, he was pronounced deceased. Members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene due to the nature of the incident.
The intersection of Ogden Avenue and Naperville-Wheaton Road was closed. The traffic was rerouted until the intersection was reopened at approximately 11:45 p.m. A citation was issued for the Nissan driver for failure to yield while turning left.
