Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois announce 2020 Summer Virtual Outdoor Experiences!

It is a tradition of Northern Illinois girls to participate in Girl Scout summer camp. During the camping, they create outdoor memories that last long. They participate in their beloved traditions every year. This year, the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois decided to cancel all 2020 summer camp programs after consulting health experts and local authorities.

The decision is taken by the Girl Scouts to follow the safety protocols in the time of the pandemic. The Girl Scouts said that they were committed to ensuring the health and safety of the girls. The canceled events include Camp Dean in Big Rock, Camp McCormick in Stillman Valley, and Camp Far Horizons in Hanover. The girls and families understand the decision of the council and its importance in the present context.

Many Northern Illinoisans had a question in their minds about whether girls would have any participating event this summer or not. They got their answer through the announcement made by the Girl Scouts today. The Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois announced the 2020 Summer Virtual Outdoor Experiences!

The virtual activities cannot replace the traditional Girl Scouts summer camp experience. But the organization tried to provide them a good experience through a list of virtual events. In the 2020 Summer Virtual Outdoor Experiences program, the girls will make new friends online. They will participate in several camp activities, and new features virtually.

Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts can openly participate in all of the virtual outdoor activities. The organization will provide GEO Boxes to the campers through shipping them to their home addresses. The Boxes will include necessary supplies for performing camping activities. The organization will charge $50 per week from members and $75 per week from non-members. The virtual outdoor experiences include the following camping programs: –

  1. The Great Girl Scout Campout (Jun 22 – Jun 26)
  2. Artists Outdoor (Jun 29 – Jul 3)
  3. Observe Your World and Beyond (Jul 6 – Jul 10)
  4. Mad Scientist (Jul 13 – Jul 17)
  5. Lessons from Big Foot (Jul 20 – Jul 24)
  6. Slay the Dragons (Jul 27 – Jul 31)
