Naperville Park District to Offer Free Summer Events in 2021

Naperville Park District is bringing back a variety of free, family-friendly outdoor events this summer for the community. For the 2021 season, the safety measures relative to COVID-19 that were put into place for outdoor events will continue as needed, including allowing plenty of space for social distancing.

Beginning June 3, the 95th Street Farmers Market will be open each Thursday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the 95th Street Library, located at 3015 Cedar Glade Drive. Co-hosted by Naperville Park District and Naperville Public Library, the market features a variety of venders offering locally grown fruits and vegetables, homemade breads, jams, sauces, hand crafted items and more.

The 14th annual Frontier Kite Fly, presented by The Branch, will be held at Frontier Sports Complex, located at 3380 Cedar Glade Drive on Sunday, June 6. A free event, the Kite Fly offers fun for all ages and a chance to view gigantic kites flown by kite enthusiasts from Chicago Kite. Participants also can practice flying their own kites. Event details will be available at www.napervilleparks.org later this spring.

The Concerts in Your Park series bring family-friendly music to different parks throughout the community on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. The 2021 schedule is as follows:

June 13 – Second Hand Soul Band at Queensbury Greens, 1520 Brookdale Rd.

June 27 – Johnny Russler & The Beach Bum Band at Meadow Glens Park, 1303 Muirhead Ave.

July 11 – Indie Kids Band at A. George Pradel Park, 4519 Pradel Dr.

July 18 – Spoken Four at Arrowhead Park, 711 Iroquois Ave.

July 25 – OMT at Gartner Park, 524 W. Gartner Rd.

Aug. 1 – Serendipity at Wolf’s Crossing Community Park, 3252 Wolf’s Crossing Road

Midday Spray returns for its second summer at Rotary Hill, located at 443 Aurora Ave. beginning the week of June 14 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This free event features a sprinkler that kids can run through to cool off on hot summer days. Families can enjoy a picnic on the lawn, visit with friends and relax. Children’s Lunch Hour Entertainment, presented by Living Well Dental Group, provides fun, interactive shows for kids and their families on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. Locations alternate between the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, located west of Centennial Beach at 912 Sindt Court, and the 95th Street Community Plaza at Frontier Sports Complex, located at 3109 Cedar Glade Drive. Performances are as follows:

June 15– Wendy and DB at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion

June 22– Super Stolie at 95th Street Community Plaza

June 29– Miss Jamie from the Farm at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion

July 6 – Little Miss Ann at 95th Street Community Plaza

July 13– Scribble Monster at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion

July 20– Jodi Koplin at 95th Street Community Plaza

Friday Night Acoustics, an event introduced in 2020, presents coffeehouse-style music in an outdoor setting. This event will take place from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9 at Wagner Family Pavilion at the 95th Street Community Plaza, featuring the Salted Coffee Band.

A Night at the Movies returns with a series of family-friendly movies to enjoy on warm summer evenings under the stars. The schedule is as follows:

Friday, July 23 at 8:30 p.m. – “The Croods: A New Age” at Rotary Hill, 443 Aurora Ave.

Friday, July 30 at 8:30 p.m. – “The Goonies” at 95th Street Community Plaza, 3109 Cedar Glade Dr.

Friday, August 27 at 7:45 p.m. – “Wall-E” at Rotary Hill, 443 Aurora Ave.
