People visit the renovated mansion of Illinois Governor in a huge number

People have visited the mansion of the Illinois governor in a huge number since its renovation. The mansion was reopened after renovation which cost $15 million. It was opened again last year to the public after renovation.

The State Journal-Register reported that more than 29000 people visited the mansion since it reopened last year. The report said that 90% of the visitors were the residents of Illinois but people also came here from 41 countries and 48 states. Illinois governor’s mansion is third oldest mansion which is still in use. Bruce Rauner, a former governor of Illinois, superheated the renovation.

The previous administrations did not put much attention to the mansion. Rod Blagojevich and Pat Quinn, predecessors of Rauner, hardly used the mansion. Rauner made it his home during his tenure and the current governor, J.B. Pritzker, also lives in the mansion. Jordan Abudayyeh, the spokeswoman of Pritzker’s office, said, “Pritzker has spent more than 50 nights sleeping at the mansion since January”.

Rauner said in May 2018, “It is one of the most beautiful and historic mansions of the United States”. He added, “We are proud to have it restored to its historic beauty.” It is a historic place which exhibits the World Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. It also highlights the life during the Civil War. People also enjoy the art of Illinois as more than 80 well-decorated arts are present in the mansion.

In this Summer, people enjoyed the free weekly concert on the front door of the mansion every Thursday. The concerts were organized by the Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series. The guided tourists can visit the mansion from 1 pm to 4 pm daily. Rauner’s efforts have brought thousands of tourists and visitors to the historic mansion of Illinois governor. Pritzker is continuing the legacy as he spends time in the mansion.
