Pregnant prisoner gives birth before losing her life of coronavirus

Andrea Circle Bear, a pregnant inmate, lost her life of coronavirus infection. She gave birth before dying on Tuesday. The Federal Bureau of Prisons revealed in a press release that Bear, a 30-year-old inmate, died on Tuesday due to the coronavirus. Circle Bear was sentenced to 26 months in federal prison in South Dakota.

The court found her guilty on the charges of maintaining a drug-involved premise, according to the Bureau of prisons. The Bureau said that Bear was transported to FMC Carswell, a medical facility associated with federal prison, on March 20, when her COVID-19 test resulted positive. FMC Carswell is located in Fort Worth, Texas.

The prison officials placed her on quarantine status immediately after the test results. The officials said that they transported her to a local hospital on March 28 as she had some pregnancy complications. The hospital staff evaluated her condition and discharged her back to FMC Carswell. Bear started showing the symptoms of COVID-19 by March 31, including dry cough and fever, according to the officials.

The officials added that they transported her back to the hospital, where she gave birth to her baby on the next day. According to the hospital officials, her baby was born by cesarean section. She was placed on a ventilator by the medical officials of the hospital as her condition was worse. The confirmation about COVID-19 in her body came on April 4. Her condition became more complicated with the passage of time, and she died of COVID-19 on April 28.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has listed some pre-conditions as a risk factor for developing more severe COVID-19. According to the officials, she had one of those pre-existing medical conditions. However, the officials did not disclose the exact condition immediately. Her condition was complicated, and she was on a ventilator before dying on April 28.
