U.S. urges citizens to home-school kids amid Coronavirus spread

The United States has begun the first week of widespread school closures amid the Coronavirus pandemic affecting lives globally. U.S. has put restrictions on restaurants, bars, and other businesses as well. The White House has added new recommendations that people should work from home and start home-schooling their kids if possible.

The service industries will take a massive toll as people will have to face the prospect of weeks without pay. People are anticipating a ripple effect with unexpected slowdowns and cancellations, although hoping that this will not be a prolonged thing. “This is the defining global health crisis of our time,” World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Monday. “The days, weeks and months ahead will be a test of our resolve, a test of our trust in science and a test of solidarity.”

President Trump’s administration has laid out new recommendations on Monday urging people to keep their kids home and not to congregate in groups larger than 10 people. The new guidelines have also insisted that people curb out eating and drinking in restaurants and bars and to cut out discretionary travel.

Trump’s new conference on Friday didn’t induce confidence in the investors as several key indexes lost more than 10% on Monday, making it one of the worst days on Wall Street in years. The guidelines are to be in effect for 15 days as the president implied that they are for everyone including youngsters and the healthy people.

“If everyone makes this change, or these critical changes and sacrifices now, we will rally together as one nation,” Trump said in a news conference at the White House. He added, “And we will defeat the virus and we’re going to have a big celebration all together.”
