UIS men’s tennis earns first NCAA D-II bid

University of Illinois Springfield earned its first bid to the NCAA Division II national men’s tennis tournament on Tuesday.

UIS was awarded the fifth seed in the Midwest Regional and will face fourth-seeded Hillsdale in a first-round match in Midland, Michigan on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The Prairie Stars finished the regular season with an 11-4 record and advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Conference semifinals last weekend. Hillsdale won the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament and went 15-2 on the season.
