5 shooting incidents occurred in Chicago on Wednesday

A shooting event took place in South Shore which killed a man and hurt two others. It was a drive-by shooting incident. 5 people were shot across Chicago on Wednesday. A 26-year-old man lost his life in a fatal shooting.

The incident happened at about 4 am when Kenneth Summers and another man, 30-year-old, were talking to a woman, 26-year-old, in the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue. The woman was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle and a vehicle drove by. Someone opened the fire on the group from the vehicle which was driven by, according to the medical examiner’s office of the Cook County. Summers was struck in the head and he lost his life. The 30-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were wounded in the arm and leg respectively, police said.

The authorities said that Summers was pronounced dead in the hospital. All of the victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. The wounded people were stabilized in the hospital after the initial treatment, according to the police. An unidentified man said that he heard the gunshots and rushed out of his house. People were screaming due to the pain and the ambulance took about 10 minutes to reach the scene, he added. He also said, “Summers knew of me but I do not know him.”

Another shooting incident took place in Washington Park on the South Side. A person was critically wounded in that incident. A woman opened fire on a 30-year-old man when he was walking on a sidewalk in the 100 block of East 61st Street. Police took the woman into their custody and recovered the weapon from her.

A shooting incident happened in Chatham on the South Side. A man was shot from someone sitting inside a passing vehicle. The 30-year-old was walking down the 7900 block of South Drexel Avenue. The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. His condition was stabilized in the hospital. He was struck in his leg during the incident. The incident is under the investigation by the Area Central detectives.
