Chance the Rapper to Headline Chicago’s New Year’s Eve

Chicago will serve as the Central Time zone broadcast hub for “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2026,” with Chance the Rapper headlining the city’s segment. The announcement was made on Dec. 5 by Mayor Brandon Johnson, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), Choose Chicago, ABC7, and Dick Clark Productions.

It marks the first time Chicago will be featured as a live location for the annual broadcast. This year’s program will spotlight the city’s musical heritage with performances from several local artists.

The evening will open with DJ Mike Dunn, a noted contributor to Chicago’s house music scene, followed by sets from DJ Mike P. Poet and artist J. Ivy, who will take the stage before acclaimed blues singer Shemekia Copeland, leading up to a special countdown performance by Chance the Rapper.

The celebration will take place along the Chicago Riverwalk, stretching along Wacker Drive from Wells Street to Lake Street, with the main stage located at Wacker and Franklin. From 7 to 9 p.m., ART on THE MART will present a custom audio-visual projection show, preceding live performances. As midnight approaches, THE MART will serve as part of the event backdrop, with fireworks launching from bridges along the Riverwalk.

City officials said more details on programming and opportunities for public participation will be shared in the coming weeks at chicago.gov/NYE/NYE.

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2026” will air live on ABC beginning at 7 p.m. CST on December 31, and will stream on Hulu the following day.
