A volunteer took a solo bicycle journey to support veterans

CALIFORNIA-FLORIDA − Navy veteran Tracy Sefcik makes a trip by bicycle from California to Florida to raise funding for organizations that support Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

Tracy Sefcik is a volunteer that devoted her life to provide help for veterans. Despite suffering from asthma and epilepsy, she decided to ride from San Diego to St. Augustine by bicycle. During her trip, she has already raised more than $22,000 for the Gary Sinise Foundation. This money would be spent on new houses for military members and financial support for them and their children.

Time to time Sefcik seeks care in hospitals and gets acquainted with veterans who have taken part in the Korean War and other conflicts in Iraq, Afghan and other countries. She is convinced that Americans should help those people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other illnesses.

The woman is traveling 70-90 miles a day to inform as many citizens as possible. She started the race with her boyfriend but now he is in the other direction and she continues by herself. Sefcik expects that her journey started in early March, will be finished in 1 month.
