Trump skips Summit in Latin America to concentrate on Syria

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump canceled his visit to the 8th Summit in South America. Vice President Mike Pence is going to be present there.

According to White House sources, Donald Trump skipped his planned visit to Colombia and Peru because he needs to focus his attention on the situation in Syria. More than 40 civilians including children affected by another chemical weapons attack. American President declared that Russia or any other nation responsible for that attack would pay a bitter price.

Mike Pence is going to represent the interests of the USA on the Summit that has been held since 1994. This year it will take place in Lima (Peru) on April, 13. Mike Pence has already visited this region a year ago, he had meetings with the Presidents of some Latin American countries, like Panama, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile. The main goal of the Summit is to conclude some trade agreements and to strengthen collaboration against the Maduro regime.

President Trump, in turn, stays in Washington to control American response to Syria. The decision was made on Monday, April, 9.
