Adult-Use Cannabis Facilities Online Survey Invites Participants

The City of Naperville is inviting the public to give input on potential adult-use cannabis zoning components via an online survey. Five-step roadmap’s first part is the survey. The roadmap outlines the required steps, input process, and timing related to the creation of zoning regulations for adult-use recreational marijuana dispensaries in the City of Naperville.

The City Council members will hold a City Council Workshop that is part of the first step in the roadmap process. The Workshop will be held on Monday, June 22 at 7 p.m. using Zoom Webinar Technology. The Workshop will help provide input and direction on possible zoning for dispensaries, parking requirements, business caps, and other requirements for cannabis businesses.

The existing medical cannabis regulations will be used by the City staff. Those regulations will be the starting point for discussions related to the proposed adult-use cannabis regulations. Gauging public opinion is the goal of the survey. The opinion will be shared with the City Council as they consider zoning requirements for adult-use cannabis facilities.

Public’s opinion will also be analyzed to see if there is support for new cannabis business types, such as craft growers or on-site consumption. A video presentation is prepared by the City staff. The presentation will help the public to understand the following aspects:

  • City’s existing medical cannabis zoning regulations.
  • The new types of facilities that do not have an equivalent category in the existing regulations
  • And how this information will help guide regulations for recreational adult-use cannabis dispensaries.

Before taking the survey, please watch the video presentation. On Friday, the survey will close at 5 p.m. You can send comments and questions to laffa@naperville.il.us by 5 p.m. on June 12
