New Delhi, the capital city of India, has become a gas chamber due to the excessive amount of air pollution. The air quality of the city has crossed 1000. The impact of pollution can be noticed everywhere. Millions of masks are also distributed in the schools.
The government has issued a formula to overcome pollution. The formula is named as even-odd number plate formula. The formula will be implemented for 12 days and it will start from Monday onwards. It will be implemented from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. The vehicles with even number plates will interchange the vehicle with odd number plates on the next day. Monday is the day for the even number plate vehicle and Tuesday will be the day for the odd number plate vehicles.
A parliament member of the BJP, the federal governing party, said that the odd-even formula was an election-tactic used by the chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal. The volunteers of the Civil Defense Department will monitor the odd-even vehicles. Vijay Goel, the parliament member of the BJP from Delhi, said, “I will violate this formula on Monday.” He said that it would be a symbolic violation as it was a political tactic of the chief minister before the assembly elections.
According to the NDTV, a news agency of India, he violated the odd-even formula back in 2016 and paid a fine of 2000 INR at that time. The strategy of Kejriwal is getting popularity on social media. Rishabh Parakh, a twitter user, wrote, “Dear Arvind Kejriwal if this is how the road and traffic improve due to Odd-Even, I sincerely request you to make it permanent.”
Kailash Gahlot, a minister in Delhi Assembly, wrote, “Today is the first day of #OddEven. I am happy that the people of Delhi are cooperating in it. I can see the vehicles with even number plate on the roads today.” The situation is worse at the moment in Delhi due to smog. People are compelled to stay at home due to the air pollution outside.
