Police and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 3:50 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 to a report that a shoplifter was injured in a struggle with store security at the Jewel-Osco, 122 North Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights.
The alleged shoplifter arrived on a bicycle and left in an ambulance after he resisted security personnel while he was stopped — accused of shoplifting. The injuries were initially believed to be minor.
Passers by wondered if the downtown Jewel-Osco had been robbed as police gathered evidence connected to the retail theft at the grocery store.
