Candida Auris is spreading in Illinois

There are many cases of Candida Auris in Illinois.

In fact, there are about 154 cases of Candida Auris in the area.

Candida Auris is a deadly fungus and people need to worry.

This fungus is spreading especially in the Chicago and suburban health care facilities.

The Candida Auris or the deadly fungus mostly affects people that have multiple underlying conditions.

The Illinois health officials have reported about 154 cases in the region. These numbers are just second to the number of cases in New York.

Out of these 154 cases, there are 95 cases in Chicago while 63 in the suburbs and three downstate.

The problem with this disease is that the fungus in often resistant to the drug treatments.

The Chicago Tribune had reported that this disease came to Illinois in recent times. Illinois had been affected by this disease in 2016.

The disease was discovered in Japan in 2009.

Dr. Max Brito has been studying this disease and fungus for some time now. He is an associate professor of infections disease at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.

He has said that there is not a single factor that makes you prone to this disease. There are many factors that can get you infected with this disease.

He says that people with Chronic disease or a weakened immune system need to take special care as they are the people with the highest chance of getting this disease.

Officials have given special instructions to people who meet people suffering from this disease. They have said that they need to clean their hands with soaps after touching the patients or any medical devices.

They also say that the people of Chicago and Illinois need to take special care of themselves as Illinois is the second highest in term of cases reported. They are just behind New York.
