The Hon. Charles Beach has been chosen as the new Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, securing 144 votes to 109. One ballot was declared spoiled. The election took place inside the Jury Assembly Room at the Richard J. Daley Center.
The results were certified by the Hon. Shelley Sutker-Dermer, chair of the Judicial Election Committee and presiding judge of the Second Municipal District. Beach, who currently serves in the Law Division, prevailed over Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans, who was seeking his ninth term, as well as the Hon. Nichole C. Patton, also from the Law Division.
Beach’s three-year term is set to begin on Monday, December 1.
