Chicago Fire FC II Set for Playoff Clash with New England

Chicago Fire FC II is set to face New England Revolution II in the opening round of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. The match will take place on Sunday, October 19, at 5 p.m. CT at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass.

This appearance marks Chicago Fire II’s third consecutive trip to the postseason. Entering the playoffs as the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Fire were selected by third-seeded New England under the league’s Pick-Your-Opponentformat.

Chicago clinched its playoff berth with a 2-1 comeback victory over FC Cincinnati 2 on September 10 at SeatGeek Stadium. The match also marked the return of David Poreba, who made his first appearance since suffering an ACL injury in preseason. Coming off the bench in the 75th minute, Poreba contributed to the team’s late push for victory.

Forward Jason Shokalook finished the regular season as the league’s top scorer, winning the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot Award with 20 goals. He netted twice in the final regular-season match—a 3-3 draw against Columbus Crew 2 on October 5. Shokalook delivered five multi-goal performances this year, all in his last eight games, including a standout four-goal display in a 9-2 win over New York Red Bulls II on July 27.

Earlier in the summer, Shokalook signed a short-term deal with Chicago Fire FC’s first team, making his Major League Soccer debut on July 7, where he recorded an assist in a win over D.C. United.

“Chicago will face New England for the first time in Fire II’s third consecutive postseason appearance,” according to Chicago Fire FC Communications.

With momentum on their side and the league’s top scorer leading the attack, Chicago Fire II enters the playoffs aiming to extend its postseason success and make a deep run in the MLS NEXT Pro championship.
