A Chicago man was involved in robbing an ATM technician on gunpoint. A federal jury found him guilty on the charge of a gunpoint robbery in the Little Village neighborhood of the City. Ivan Parker of Chicago used a handgun to threaten an ATM technician on July 27, 2018. He pointed the gun on the head of the technician when the technician was loading cash in the ATM.
The incident happened at a Chase Bank branch in the 3800 block of West 26th Street. According to the conviction, the robbery occurred just before 7:00 am when the technician was putting the cash into the ATM. The technician tried to push the gun away but the robber used a pepper spray on him. He snatched a bag from the technician and ran away.
According to the prosecutors, the bad was containing $106335 in cash. Parker was arrested by the police next month. He remained in the custody of the police after his arrest. The prosecutors provided the evidence in the court against him. According to the evidence, Parker bought furniture, a Buick sedan, jewelry, a television, and a PlayStation console.
Parker has been proven guilty in the court of one count of robbery charges in the court. According to the US Sentencing Guidelines, the conviction of robbery charge is punishable for up to 20 years in prison. Sara L. Ellis, a US District Judge, set the sentencing date for May 27, 2020.
John R. Lausch, Jr., the US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Emmerson Buie, The Special Agent-in-Charge of the FBI’s Chicago office, announced the conviction. Tobara S. Richardson and Christine M. O’Neill, the assistant US attorneys, represented the government in the case. Parker will be sentenced on May 27, 2020, and the US Sentencing Guidelines will be followed. He is expected to be punished with up to 20 years in prison. The conviction was announced by the federal jury on the base of the presented evidence in the court.
