Chicago Students Supported Gun Reform

Illinois students walked out of their classes as a sign of support to gun reform. They stated the necessity to protect their constitutional rights.

There were around a dozen high schools that were ready to take part in the nationwide demonstration in supporting “Stand for the 2nd Walkout”. Among those educational institutions that participated were such schools, as Libertyville High School, Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Madison Jr. High in Naperville, Timothy Christian schools in Elmhurst and St. Charles North High School.

According to the program of the demonstration, students walked away from their classrooms and gathered at the football fields. They took national flags to declare their position. The event took 17 minutes, organizers explained that they wanted to observe a minute of silence in memory of each student that died in the armed attack that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (Parkland, Florida) in February.
The walkout that first time was held in March, was initiated by Will Riley, a high school senior from Carlsbad, New Mexico. Activists want to make schools a safe place where people can feel secure.
