City of Joliet announces Residential Senior Snow Removal Program for 2019

The City of Joliet has announced a snow removal program for senior citizens in 2019. The Residential Senior Snow Removal Program will be funded through the use of Community Development Block Grant funds. The residents of the City of Joliet above the age of 65 can avail the offer for getting aid in the removal of snow from the paved driveways and service sidewalks at their homes.

A person with a doctor verified disability of also eligible to avail this offer of the City of Joliet. The aim of the program is to assist the seniors and patients with disabilities when they leave their homes in necessities. The seniors and special persons find it tough to make their way to the grocery stores and attending the medical appointments due to the heavy snow on the sidewalks and paved driveways at their homes.

The program will help the seniors and persons with disabilities by providing snow removal from the driveways and sidewalks at their homes. The eligibility for availing the offer is dependent on the single homes only. There are limited funds for the program and there are some other requirements as well, According to the City of Joliet officials.

The services are provided to the seniors when there is more than two inches of snow on the sidewalks and driveways. According to the program, a contractor will provide the snow removal service of the paved driveway and service sidewalk from the driveway to the front door of your home. The contractor will not salt any area and the service will be provided by the contractor after the 24 hours of snow stoppage.

The contractor will provide the service between 6:00 am and 10: 00 pm and there is no guarantee of the service at a specific time of the day. The interested seniors and persons with disabilities can apply for availing the service between September 30 and October 6. The submission of the application does not guarantee your place in the current program. You will be selected on the base of the results of a lottery.
