Coronavirus lockdown: Indian government permits some businesses to open

A strong lockdown remained in India from March 22 to April 14. During the lockdown, most of the businesses remained closed in India. There was a ban on the opening of religious praying places, educational places, and governmental offices. The Indian government only permitted some important offices and businesses and offices to stay open.

There was a complete ban on public transport from March 22 to April 14. Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India, said in his statement on April 14 that the lockdown would remain until May 3. However, he stated that the government would provide some ease during the next stage of the lockdown.

The Indian government issued a notification on April 15. The notification stated that the Indian government had decided to open several businesses from April 20, 2020. According to Indian Express, the government notified the state governments to lift the ban on several businesses from April 20. According to the notification, the public transport, the public and picnic places, the religious places, the educational institutes, and the state borders would remain closed during the new stage of the lockdown.

The residents will not be allowed to move from one state to another. The notification stated that the railway lines, airlines, and all public transports would remain closed. However, the government will permit goods transport from April 20. According to the notification, the ban will remain on the opening of shopping centers, picnic places, cinemas, playgrounds, swimming pools, and coaching centers.

According to the notification, the government will allow the vegetable, fruit, milk, and chicken shops to stay open. The notification stated that the government would lift the ban on the opening of the fish and poultry farms, the tea and coffee gardens, and other related factories. Post offices, hospitals, medical stores, security departments, water department, electricity department, gas department, and petrol department will remain open. The construction industry will also open from April 20.
