Court sentences a man 10 years in prison for kidnapping a college student

John Kinsella, DuPage County judge, has sentenced a man 10 years in prison on Thursday. Ramos pleaded guilty in the court to the felony count of armed robbery. DuPage County state attorney’s office released a statement in which it said, “Ramos has been sentenced by the court in the case of armed robbery”.

Ramos, along with Jeremy Jones and Timothy Jones, kidnapped a student from downtown Glen Ellyn on 26th of August, 2016. They drove him to multiple ATMs for robbing more than $1500 from him. On the same day, they drove him to Chicago later on and released him. The student called 911 after reaching a nearby building.

The prosecutors said, “The Glen Ellyn police investigated the case and arrested Ramos on August 30, 2016”. Ramos lived in South Elgin, according to the prosecutors. Timothy Jones was arrested on 6th of September, 2016 while Jeremy Jones was arrested on 18th of September, 2016. The attorney’s office of the state told, “Jeremy Jones has been sentenced 24 years in prison in the case of armed robbery”.

The prosecutors said, “Timothy Jones was killed in a shooting event which was not related to this case”. These three alleged people kidnapped the student of Wheaton College on gunpoint and robbed him. Ramos was pleaded guilty in the case on March 29 and he has been sentenced 10 years in prison. He was facing a felony count of armed robbery in which he was proved guilty.

He also had two other people with him during the robbery and kidnapping crime. He was arrested by the Glen Ellyn police in 2016. Jeremy Jones is already in the jail as he was sentenced 24 years in prison by the court. Ramos will spend 10 years in the jail, according to the judge, John Kinsella, who sentenced him in this case. Timothy Jones, who was involved in the crime, has been killed in a shooting event.
