The federal court in Rockford sentenced two Freeport men to prison on the charges of drug trafficking. Terrance Young, a 46-year-old man, has been sentenced by Rebecca R. Pallmeyer, a US District Judge, to seven and a half years in federal prison. According to the court details, Young pleaded guilty in the form of a written plea agreement on September 13, 2019.
Young admitted in the written plea agreement that he possessed cocaine with an intent to distribute it. According to the plea agreement, the police officers entered the home of Young with an official search warrant. They found 5.5 grams of cocaine in a plastic bad that Young kept inside a kitchen cupboard. Young admitted that the cocaine seized by the police officers belonged to him and he kept it there with an intent to distribute it to others.
According to the plea agreement, the police officers also found $3743 in cash in a dining room adjacent to the kitchen. Young admitted that the cash came from drug sales. He also admitted that he was involved in selling cocaine on July 14, 2017, August 15, 2017, December 4, 2017, and August 7, 2018.
Kryan Williams, a 25-year-old Freeport man, was also sentenced by Philip G. Reinhard, a US District judge, to nine years and three months in federal prison in a separate case. Williams pleaded guilty in the form of a written plea agreement on September 17, 2019. He admitted in the plea agreement that he possessed crack cocaine with an intent to distribute it, possessed a firearm related to moving forward the drug trafficking crime, and possessed a firearm as a felon.
According to the plea agreement, the police officers entered his home for the execution of a search warrant on August 30, 2018. He admitted that the officers located two guns with ammunition and a baggie containing crack cocaine. He also admitted that he was involved in the business of selling drugs including heroin and fentanyl. Margaret J. Schneider, an assistant US attorney, represented the government in the case.
