COVID-19 Family Support Fund Established

COVID-19 Family Support Fund is established by District 99 and the District 99 Education Foundation. The Fund is established to support District 99 students and families in need, District 99 Superintendent Dr. Hank Thiele said, “Since March 16, District 99 has distributed tens of thousands of meals to students.”

Thiele added, “We’re grateful for the District 99 Education Foundation for making this fund possible as need exists in our community.” Nearly $12,000 has been raised so far and $7,000 is already been allocated to District 99 families. Gift cards to local grocery stores and business have been given to these families. They can use the gift cards for groceries, food, and other essential household items.

The in need families have been determined by District 99 administrators, teachers and counselors. They are delivering gift cards to the needy families. District 99 Education Foundation President Julia Beckman said, “As is happening across the world, the effects of COVID-19 will continue to impact our community members, so we plan to continue the momentum of raising funds.”

Beckham added, “We’re thankful for those community members who have donated so far. We hope others will do the same now, and in the months ahead.”
