Elgin Mayor Kaptain initiates new campaign ‘Show you care. Cover up.’

David Kaptain, the mayor of Elgin, initiated a new campaign, ‘Show you care. Cover up.” He urged the community to wear masks or cloth face coverings as a protective measure to face the coronavirus pandemic. It i9s hard to maintain social distancing in the current public settings. It enhances the risks of the spread of the virus.

According to Kaptain, covering the face with a face mask or cloth covering can reduce the spread of the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the guidelines for the public to cover their faces to slow down the spread of the virus. Most of the people do not know about the infection at the early stages and transmit the virus without knowing.

It is easy to make the cloth face coverings at home by using simple household items. It is an additional and voluntary public measure to be taken to reduce the spread of the virus. Kaptain said, “By taking extra precautions like wearing a mask, we are keeping ourselves and those working in our community safe and healthy.”

Kaptain said that the spread of the virus could be reduced with collective efforts. According to the campaign, the residents are urged to post their selfies while wearing the face mask on Facebook and Instagram and tag @cityofelgin. The selfies will be shared by the City accounts in their stories on these social media platforms. The stories will include “thank you” messages as well.

If you do not have a face mask then there is no need to worry. You can make a face mask by using one these two ways. You can sew a face mask by using clothes at your home. You can also make a face mask by using your T-Shirt. There is no need for sewing if you use the second method. According to the CDC, a face mask should not restrict breathing and include multiple layers of fabric. Moreover, you need to wash the cloth face coverings regularly in order to keep them clean, the CDC officials said.
