Beijing Police started the investigation of the explosion that took place outside the U.S. embassy. The 26-year-old man who had done it did not leave any notes that can explain the reason for his action. His surname was Jiang, and he was from Tongliao city (Inner Mongolia).

The man had a homemade bomb, produced from a firework. He did not try to kill anyone or damage the U.S. Embassy. No one was injured, the building was not destroyed. The bomb exploded at 1 p.m. and caused a lot of smoke.

It is not certain why the explosion has happened. According to the U.S. embassy spokesperson, there are a lot of Chinese citizens who are applying for American educational, traveling or work visas. Usually there are huge lines of applicants outside the U.S. embassy, fortunately, no one was injured with this explosion. The U.S. embassy continued working day in the early afternoon. The police took a look around the building, no suspicious objects were found.
