Fatal Traffic Crash involving Pedestrian investigated

The Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Fire Department, on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at approximately 6:04 p.m., responded to the intersection of Hobson Road and College Road for a vehicle crash involving a 2017 Black Toyota Tundra. The crash involved a 64-year old female driving and two pedestrians.

All of them belonged from Naperville. The initial investigation indicated that the Toyota Tundra was traveling northbound on Wehrli Road in the left turn lane. The vehicle proceeded to make the turn to go west on Hobson. The vehicle struck the two pedestrians that were in the crosswalk traveling north across Hobson.

The pedestrians were a 77-year old male and a 71-year-old female. Both of them were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. After shortly arriving at the hospital, the male was pronounced dead.

Members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene for the investigation due to the nature of the incident. The intersection of Hobson and College (Wehrli) was closed and traffic was rerouted. The intersection reopened at approximately 8:16 p.m. The crash investigation is on-going.
