MoCP is the world’s elite college art museum dedicated to photography. The Columbia College Chicago founded it in 1976 as the successor to the Chicago Center for Contemporary Photography. In the early 1980s, the Museum began collecting and has grown its collection enormously. It has more than 15,000 objects by over 1,500 artists.
The Museum of Contemporary Photograph has a popular Fine Print Program. It allows the collectors to buy some of the world’s most renowned photographers’ art at an affordable rate while also supporting the museum’s programming. Some of the most innovative photographers working today print especially for the Museum.
Editioned Fine Prints’ (many for just $400) sales directly help artistic and educational programs at the MoCP. More than 60 artists’ prints are available online including works of local, national, and internationally renowned artists. Some of the renowned artists are Sarah Pickering, Tony Tasset, Ken Fandell, Brian Ulrich, Olivo Barbieri, Anna Fox, Aspen Mays, Kahn, and Salesnick, Anna Shteynshleyger, Simon Roberts, Yeondoo Jung, and Tim Davis.
In recent years, works by internationally-collected artists like Alec Soth, Vik Muniz, Candida Höfer, and Curtis Mann have sold out quickly. Each image is printed on archival-quality paper and is offered in an edition of 30, numbered, and signed by the artist.
Four artists have joined the program this year. All of them are women. They are Patty Carroll, Beth Dow, Priya Kambli, and Millee Tibbs. The COVID-19 Pandemic has forced us to not visit a museum in months, but the MoCP’s print program additions mean you can physically bring museum-quality work in your own home.
