Illinois Department of Public Health reports 528 coronavirus-related deaths and 16422 confirmed cases

The state Department of Public Health (IDPH) released the data related to the coronavirus deaths and cases in Illinois as of April 9. According to the IDPH, 16422 confirmed cases have been reported in Illinois. Moreover, the department reported 528 coronavirus-related deaths.

The highest number of statewide cases have been reported in Chicago and Cook County. According to the department, 6648 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Chicago while 4767 cases have been confirmed in Cook County. The department said that 80857 people have been tested for the coronavirus as of April 9 in Illinois.

The highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported in the people between the age of 50 and 59. According to the IDPH, 3318 people between the age of 50 and 59 have been tested positive for the virus. IDPH said that 7970 male and 8233 female patients have been tested positive for the COVID-19 infection.

Among 528 coronavirus-related deaths reported so far, 301 were male while 225 were female. Here are the details of fatalities on the base of their races: –

  • African-Americans (225)
  • Whites (189)
  • Hispanics (45)
  • Asians (21)
  • Other races (48)

Only a single case has been reported in Calhoun, De Witt, Gallatin, Hancock, Knox, Marshall, Pike, Richland, and Stark counties. JB Pritzker, the governor of Illinois, provides daily updates related to the coronavirus at Thompson Center, Chicago.
