Intelligence report says UK is main target of Russia for its US relations

The Parliamentarian Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) of the UK said that the UK government failed to investigate the interference of Russia in the Brexit referendum. According to the report of Al Jazeera, the UK is the main target of Russia for its friendly relations with the US. The ISC said that the valid sources had proven the campaigning of Russia in the UK related to the Scottish Freedom Referendum.

The ISC had documented its report in 2019 but the Committee published the report now. The report said that Russia tried to intervene in the Brexit campaign. However, the UK government could now acquire solid proofs related to Russian interference. In the report, Russia is categorized as a country having aggressive power.

The report said that the aggressive power of Russia was an extraordinary threat to the UK and other western countries. The report alleged Russia of being involved in spying, cyberattacks, interfering in elections, and money laundering. The report found that Russia took the UK as a target of “western intelligence.”

The report released by the ISC revealed that Russia took the UK as its foremost target due to the friendly US-UK relations. The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to the report and said, “Russia has never intervened in the election campaigns of other countries.” Russia has already denied the allegations of election intervention several times. Russia said, “The US and the UK are suffering from Russian Phobia.”

Russia said, “MI5, the British intelligence agency, provided us only a 6 lines statement on our request to provide written proofs.” In the past, Russian and Donald Trump, the president of the US, denied a report of Robert Mueller, a special investigator, related to the Russian intervention in the US presidential elections. Muller published his 400-page report after a long investigation of 22 months. The Mueller Report alleged Trump of being involved in a conspiracy.
