Joliet issues Second Declaration of Local State of Emergency

On April 2, 2020, a Second Declaration of Local State of Emergency (Second Declaration) has been issued by Joliet Mayor Robert O’ Dekirk. The Second Declaration will be until adjournment of the first regular meeting of the City Council (April 7, 2020) or adjournment of a duly called and noticed special City Council meeting before April 7, 2020.

The Pre-Council meeting scheduled for April 6, 2020, has been canceled by the Second Declaration. The Second Declaration will combine the regularly scheduled Pre-Council meeting with the regularly scheduled Tuesday, April 7, 2020, Council Meeting (6:30 p.m. start on Tuesday, April 7, 2020). The new City Council meeting public comment procedures are addressed by the Second Declaration.

“In Pursuant to the authority vested in the office of Mayor by the Illinois Municipal Code Section 5/11-1-6, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act Section 3305/11 and Sec. 2-17 of the City of the Joliet Code of Ordinances, I, Robert O’Dekrik, the Mayor of the City of the City of Joliet, in conjunction with the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation issued March 9, 2020 and the Mayoral Declaration of Local State of Emergency issued on March 16, 2020, do hereby declare that a Local State of Emergency continues as of this date, Thursday, April 2, 2020, and shall continue until adjournment of the first regular meeting of the City Council (April 7, 2020) or adjournment of a duly called and noticed special City Council meeting prior to April 7, 2020.”
