The presentation will also focus on the aftermaths of the women’s right to vote fight. It will present the creation of the League of Women Voters in 1920 and the introduction of the Equal Rights Amendment in 1923. Julie Hartman-Linck, a professor of Sociology at Highland Community College will present the program.

She holds a Ph.D. degree in Sociology from Michigan State University. She specialized in feminist sociology and gender sociology. She became a member of the League of Women Voters of Freeport two years ago.
She has a clear vision of educating the voters with the rights of the women in the community. Dr. Hartman-Linck will share her views about the current status of the Equal Rights Amendment. The presentation of the history of suffrage is the main aim of the event. It is a free and public event and the residents are invited to come.
