Lemonade stand raises $200000 for medical research via digital donation

Two families of Ohio started a lemonade campaign for raising $150 for medical research. A post went viral on the internet and they raised more than $200000 through the lemonade stand. They received donations from the people whom they never met. The Weidner and Zerbe families started a lemonade stand, Turning Lemons into LemonAID, on Labor Day weekend.

At the start, the families raised $148 through this donation-raising campaign. The stand was taken by the families to raise funds for research on organoids. The funds were donated to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. An organoid is a tiny 3D formation of the cells that perform the function of human tissue.

Hillary Weidner donated a part of her liver to her daughter, Bea Weidner, in 2015, for saving her life. After that donation, she thought of starting a campaign for raising funds for children having issues with their organoids. Their post went viral on the internet and they got a tremendous response from all across the country.

Initially, the two families requested their friends and families for participating in the fund-raising campaign for the research on organoids. After a few days, the post went viral on the internet and they raised the donation of $204000. It was a great achievement for the families as they got a response that they never thought. The families presented the donation to the hospital on Friday.

Hillary Kelly Weidner posted on Facebook, “Thank you for your business! What an incredibly special morning at Cincinnati Children’s. We will always be indebted for the care we have received and continue to receive at this hospital.” Weidner wrote on Facebook that they officially donated $205000 to the hospital. The money was raised through the lemonade stand taken by the Weidner and Zerbe families on the Labor Day weekend. The families thanked the people who donated the funds and the hospital as well.
