State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) wants to have a property tax relief for her constituents. She has urged the Democrats to help the Republicans to help the tax relief bills.
“Property taxes have been a major problem for years in Illinois,” Mazzochi said during a March 3 press conference. “We have a convoluted tax system pushing people out of the state.”
Mazzochi said that the purpose of The Property Tax Relief Task Force was to bring reform but it failed to achieve the objective. “We got another task force and we wanted to use that task force to see and bring reform to Illinois,” Mazzochi said. “We took that task force seriously, but Democrats used that to further other taxes like the income tax.”
Mazzochi said she wasn’t surprised. “Our ideas were summarily dismissed, like pension reform, greater reforms to local government systems, enhanced transparency on tax bills,” Mazzochi said. “There was no substantive action by Democrats this session. House Democrats continue to not take action.”
Mazzochi said she wants legislation that Republicans have filed that will provide tax relief for Illinoisans.
