Naperville Park District crews respond to cover racist graffiti in Cantore Park

An erected partition separates Cantore Park from the adjacent Welch Elementary School. A racist graffiti was found scrawled on the partition earlier. Naperville Park District crews responded quickly to cover the racist verbing temporarily.

It was hard for the crew members to transport necessary equipment for removing the graffiti permanently as the ground was saturated due to the recent rainfall. According to the officials, the crew members will remove the graffiti permanently on Tuesday morning.

Ray McGury, the executive director of Park Police for the Naperville Park District, said, “Hatred and ignorance drive racist comments like this.” McGury is also performing the duty of Acting Chief of Park Police for the Naperville Park District. He said that they had no tolerance for such comments and behavior.

McGury said, “I live in this community. I raised my kids in this community. I have no tolerance for this.” He added that his fellow Napervillians would also not tolerate such acts. He urged the public to share information related to anyone behind this crime by contacting Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 420 – 6006.

You can also share information online, if you have, at www.napervillecrimestoppers.com. McGury said, “I personally will be adding $500 to the Naperville Crime Stoppers reward for information leading to the arrest of the subject(s).” The Investigations Division of the Naperville Police Department is also waiting for your calls with relevant information. You can contact them at (630) 305 – 5276. All calls may remain anonymous.
