Naperville Park District Summer Camps Guide Now Available Online

To help families plan a fun and memorable summer, the Naperville Park District Summer Camps Guide is now available online at www.napervilleparks.org/programguides, offering a variety of camp experiences for children from preschool through high school. Registration for day camps and summer school camps is in progress, while registration for all other camps begins at 8:30 a.m. on April 6 for Naperville Park District residents and at 8:30 a.m. on April 8 for nonresidents.

The Park District’s summer camp program includes day camps—both full-day and half-day programs—and special interest camps in arts, athletics, early childhood, golf, nature, science and technology. Most camps are meeting in person this summer, following current safety guidelines relative to COVID-19, with a few virtual programs also available.

For those looking for a traditional day camp with outdoor activities, arts and crafts and opportunities to make new friends, Camp Seager and Camp Frontier offer week-by-week registration for a full day program for ages 6-14. Experienced, enthusiastic camp counselors guide small groups in fun activities based on a different theme each week. Half-day camps include Adventure Camp, Camp Summer Fun and Summer School Camp, which is for students in grades 1-5 who are attending District 203 summer school classes in the morning.

Sports camps for a range of ages include baseball, fencing, basketball, gymnastics, cheerleading, flag football, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee and tennis. Junior golfers can practice putting, chipping and a full swing at Springbrook Golf Course at a variety of golf camps. Nature camps at Knoch Knolls Nature Center include fishing, building forts, and outdoor adventures.  In arts camps, kids can learn to sew or practice their acting skills. Science and technology camps offer a variety of topics including website development, movie making, animation, gaming, robotics and engineering with LEGO®.

For the youngest campers, the Park District offers camps that meet for a shorter, age-appropriate length of time each day. Camp Toadstools and Pollywogs provides nature-based activities and outdoor adventures, and is available weekly from June 14-August 5. Special interest camps for preschoolers meet for just one week each and feature fun activities to learn about weather, dinosaurs, fairy tales, music and more. New this year is a two-week camp to help children prepare for kindergarten.

“We are excited to be able to plan a full summer of camp experiences for almost every age and interest,” said Andrea Coates, superintendent of recreation. “Summer is a perfect time to try a new activity, learn a new skill, make new friends and build confidence. Naperville Park District summer camps provide these opportunities right here in the community.”
