Possession of ice leads Peoria man to 15 years in prison

David A. Dodd has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Dodd, 45-year-old, is a resident of Peoria, Illinois, and he was found guilty over the charges of possessing methamphetamine with an intent of distribution. Joe Billy McDade gave the sentence of Dodd on November 20. He also ordered that Dodd would remain on supervised release for 10 years after fulfilling his sentence.

Dodd pleaded guilty in the court on July 17, 2019. Pekin Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration issued the search warrant of him and his truck on December 21, 2018. Police found five ounces of 100% pure methamphetamine in his truck, according to the court document. The court document stated that Dodd was driving northbound on I-55.

Dodd admitted his crime in front of the police and court. He told that he was involved in methamphetamine trafficking. He had been trafficking meth from St. Louis to Pekin for several months. He also told the agents that he was selling ice in Pekin for several months. The law enforcement agents found additional methamphetamine in his apartment. They also seized cash of $2600 from his apartment.

Dodd has a bad public record as he was convicted in 2011 in the case of manufacturing methamphetamine in White County, Illinois. He served 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in this case. He was also convicted of four other drug-related charges in White County. The Pekin Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case.

The case was prosecuted by Katherine Legge, an assistant US attorney. Dodd is sentenced to 15 years in prison by Judge McDade on Nov. 20. He will also remain on supervised release for 10 years after serving his sentence. Dodd remained in the custody of the US Marshal Services after he was arrested by the police. He was arrested by the police on December 22, 2019, over the charges of meth trafficking for sale.
