Potential Improvements to 248th Avenue to be the focus of Open House

NAPERVILLE, IL – The potential improvements to 248th Avenue will be the focus of the open house-style information meeting of the public. The open house will be hosted in Meeting Room A/B of the 95th Street Library, 3015 Cedar Glade Road from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, Nov.7. Presenting existing conditions in the area and gathering input on needs will be the purpose of the meeting.

The portion of 248th Avenue that runs from 95th Street to 103rd Street needs to be improved which was identified by the City. Creating better driving experience and improving recreational experiences for bicyclists and pedestrians is the goal. Improving the roadway; installing new pavement, curbs, and gutters; and installing a new street lighting system could be the project scope.

Connecting the gaps in the current bike path on the west side of 248th Avenue will be done. A new sidewalk on the east side of the roadway, from 95th Street to 103rd Street could be also be poured as the City will investigate it.

Construction will not start soon as the tentative dates are May 2022. The construction will last for a year. In late 2019 and early 2020, series of community meetings and open houses will take place. This meeting will be the start of the upcoming meetings. The Nov. 7 meeting will give the people to learn about the planning process, schedule, and public participation opportunities.

The meeting will also provide input on transportation safety and operation within the study area through hands-on exhibits, and talk with the project team and ask questions.
