The Rockford Area Economic Development Council (RAEDC) is aggregating Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) orders on behalf of the community. It will allow small and medium-sized businesses to acquire the PPE at an affordable rate. According to the RAEDC, larger companies can also get equipment from them.
The RAEDC officials said, “We are passing our cost on to the community to fill a much-needed gap.” The businesses will be able to place aggregated orders on Wednesday, May 6, at 5:00 pm and on Monday, May 11, at 5:00 pm. The Council will extend the aggregated orders twice per week on the base of the demand.
Nathan Bryant, the CEO and President of the RAEDC, said, “We are happy to offer this type of service and support to our community during this uncertain time.” The RAEDC is committed to ensuring the success of the business community. Bryant ensured that the RAEDC would continue to play its role in a meaningful manner.
According to the RAEDC officials, they took this step to ensure the compliance of the businesses to the executive order issued by JB Pritzker, the governor of Illinois, on May 1.
According to the May 1 Executive order, people are required to use face covers when they visit an outdoor place. Social distancing is applicable all across the state. The order stated that the face covers are required in public indoor spaces and workplaces. The businesses will be able to receive their orders at a distribution center in Rockford after seven days of their order submission. The companies will pick the orders from the distribution center, according to the RAEDC. The RAEDC officials said that they would continue taking steps to ensure the success of the business community of Rockford.
